Steve Harvey Mentorship Program

reparing young adults for successful lives requires that they be skilled in leadership and personal responsibility. Minority communities often have deficits in developing their young people in these critical life skills. Working with the Steve Harvey/U.S. Army Boys Mentoring Program, we aimed to help narrow that gap.

For six years, JacobsEye produced and executed this national program that teaches young men (many of whom are without a significant father figure) the principles of manhood. Serving as SHMP’s partner in cities such as Detroit, Dallas, New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Chicago, our responsibilities included:

  • Hosting workshops that focused on manhood, personal responsibility, dream building, and better nutrition and physical fitness
  • Introducing participants to positive male role models who were leaders in various areas such as professional sports, business, the community, entertainment, and the military
  • Attracting strategic partners to provide additional funding or services and creating radio-promoted mentor recruitment drives to enlist local neighborhood mentors (doctors, attorneys, engineers, chefs, and more)

Thanks in part to our efforts, SHMP was able to help more than 10,000 young men. We helped the program land corporate partners such as Coca-Cola, Ford Motor Co., The Home Depot, MasterCard, and Denny’s, as well as numerous local neighborhood mentors.
